Rails Project Explosion
In this project I think I did a few things that caused me to spend too much time, become very frustrated and learn a lot of hard lessons. I want to go into detail on some things I think I could have done to prevent this cycle.
Fruit Trees Sinatra App
Wow. It’s taken me longer to get here than I would have imagined but I’m really pleased with this app. It may not be all that powerful or pretty but it does the job. I think in the future I might return to it and add some styling and functionality. Right now I need to just be happy with a project that delivers a minimum viable product and move on to bigger things in this course.
CLI Project and GBBO
I knew going in that my CLI project would be challenging. It’s sort of like the middle challenge in each episode of The Great British Bake Off. In this challenge the bakers are given a pared back version of a recipe. Instead of telling the bakers how to make a sponge cake with icing, the recipe just says, “make sponge and cover with icing.” No ingredients, no bake time, no instructions on how to put the icing on. Bakers are then judged on how well you can recreate the cake.
